Horses, the Landscape and You

From : Sam in the AONB

If you’ve read Horse Power and Highway History here on GoldenDays you’ll know just how important horses used to be.

Nowadays lots of people keep horses as pets and being large animals they require large amounts of land. In South WestEngland nearly 40% of the land is recognised as internationally important through the designations of two National Parks and fourteen Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty. That’s why the South West Protected Landscape Forum has put together this leaflet about keeping horses in protected landscapes.

This leaflet has tips covering a range of subjects from grazing to waste management. It also contains lots of useful contacts and locations to find out even more information. You can download the leaflet from the link on the right.
