Sounds and voices of South Devon on the radio

Across the AONB

From : Sarah at South Devon AONB unit

To celebrate the AONB's 50th year we have recorded life and landscape in the AONB as a sound archive for future generations.

The AONB teamed up with Lucinda Guy and colleagues from Soundart Radio 102.5fm. David Harbott, a professional photographer also joined the team to document the project. They spent much of Spring 2011 out and about talking to people to capture the story of changing times since the 1960s.

For David, a graduate of Central St Martins now based in South Devon, this project is close to his heart. He is known for his sensitivity in capturing people in living landscapes, sometimes in rather unusual ways. You may have seen his large scale historic colleage work on display in Torbay and Plymouth. His photograph (right) captures the crab catch, just landed in Brixham harbour.

Spring broadcasts on Soundart Radio 102.5FM

Snippets from the newly recorded archive were broadcast on Soundart Radio in March and April 2011 in a series of five radio programmes.  Soundart broadcasts on 102.5FM and online:
